Week beginning Monday 15th March-Topic Lessons

Will you read me a story?

This week’s topic is all about the goodies and baddies in the fairy tale stories that we know. We will look at a few stories that have very well known characters!

Open the ‘Fairy Tale Characters’ file and see if you can remember who the characters are.

Then, sort them into ‘goodies’ and ‘baddies’. If you’re able to, you can print them off, cut them out and sort them.

Looking at the words on the right, decide whether they would be used to describe the ‘goodies’ or ‘baddies’.

Our first story is ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. Watch the story below and discuss it. Can you fill in the sections of the Fairy Tale Formula to describe the story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears?

  • Can you think of a time when something went wrong because of your actions or somebody else’s?
  • How did that make you feel?
  • Was anybody else upset?

Doing good things can make us feel good inside and doing something bad can make us feel bad inside.

Think about some good things that you could do.

The second story we’re like you to enjoy has a little bit of a twist. Have you changed your mind about who is a goodie and who is a baddie in this fairy tale? Why?

Science

Enjoy listening to the story of The Three Little Pigs and then take some time to complete your science experiment for this week.

  • Find a few different materials in your home to make a house for the Three Little Pigs.
  • The roof must be waterproof (it cannot let any water into the house).
  • You could use: plastic, paper, tin foil, toilet roll and fabric to see which would make the best roof.

Music

This week, we are going to be using our listening ears to to join in with the songs, rhymes and listening games for The Billy Goats Gruff.
