Week beginning Monday 29th March-Topic Lessons

Will you read me a story?

This week’s topic is all about having a fairy tale tea party!

Party Invitations

We need to send out some beautiful invitations to our favourite fairy tale characters that we’ve looked at this term!

  • What needs to be on your invitation?
  • Are there any fairy tale characters you wouldn’t invite? Why?

You could also send invitations to your friends or family for our fairy tale tea party at the end of the week!

Party Shopping List

What would you need for your fairy tale tea party?

Think back to a time when you went to a party…

  • What was there?
  • What did you do?
  • What did you eat?

Create your own party food and shopping lists.

Party Food

Who will make all of the food?

If you can, have a go at making some of the party food with your family.

Click here for a range of different recipes to try or come up with your own ideas for your party food.

Ruler for a Day

For this lesson, you will need a sparkly crown. If you don’t have on at home, click here to make your own.

Sit with the people in your family. Whoever wears the crown has the power to make a new rule.

For example, you might say: “Now I am the Queen, all teachers must have chocolate for breakfast’ or “Now I am the King, all children can have Friday off.”

Pass the crown around the circle for everybody else to share their ideas. Challenge each other to speak confidently, respond imaginatively and use humour.

Royal Workshop

At your fairy tale tea party, it is very important that all of the characters have everything they need to make their costumes perfect. They might also want to try something new!

Your task is to make swords, shields, crowns, plates, goblets or some jewellery that is fit for a fairy tale prince or princess.

You could use card or paper, silver foil, ribbon, glitter, paint, sequins, buttons and anything else you have at home.

Before you start, think carefully about what you’re going to make and how you’re going to do it.

Click the image below for some ideas for what to make and how to do it.

Party Time!

Now, it is finally time for our party!

If you can, dress up as your favourite fairy tale character. Set out a table or picnic rug and enjoy some tasty snacks. You could have some of the ones you made earlier this week if there are still some left!

Make a video of you in your costume (and your family if they can too!). Stay in character and tell us something about yourself.

Then, as your fairy tale tea party comes to an end. Sit down and enjoy a fairy tale story together by watching the video below.
