Wednesday: Art

On Monday at school, we started to prepare for our piece of art work all about happiness. We created a mood board about what happiness means to us as individuals. We found out that sometimes people, objects, places, foods, occasions and animals can all make us happy. We decided that we wanted to create a piece of art work all about our happy places. Today, you are going to create your piece of art work. You can be as creative as you like! You can make a 3D model, painting or sketch to show what happiness is to you. If you would like to complete a similar piece of art work to what we discussed in school then the instructions are below. If you have own idea for how to complete your art work then that is fine! Be as creative as you wish! You do not even have to base it on your happy place. You could complete some art work based on people, animals or objects that make you happy!

My happy place art work

Bubble painting

At school, we were going to use a bubble painting technique for the background of our art work. To complete a bubble painting background you will need: paint, washing up liquid, a straw and a piece of plain paper.

  1. Mix your paint and a squirt of washing up liquid together.

2. Blow the paint with a straw until it starts to bubble right to the top of your cup.

3. Places your paper over the top of your bubbly cup and it will create a lovely bubble pattern.

4. Leave your bubble painting to dry.

On a separate sheet of paper complete a sketch of your happy place. Below are some links to different videos that will give you a step-by-step guide for how to complete a sketch of a beach, garden, countryside and forest. You may choose a different place to this.

Beach landscape
Countryside sketch
Flower garden sketch
Forest landscape

Once your sketch is complete mount it onto your bubble background!

Remember, this is your happiness art work and you can complete it in any way you wish. You do not have to complete it in the same way that we discussed at school! Once you have completed your art work, send us a photograph so that we can enter it into the competition!

Thursday: Cooking

On Monday, we made a plan in our books for making a healthy Omelette with Chef. Today, you have a choice of cooking activities to complete. You can either make: an omelette, fruit smoothies or fruit kebabs/salad. The instructions for each activity are below. If you do not have the ingredients for these activities then you could have a go at some yoga and mindfulness ( also below).

Omelettes- You will need an adult to support you with this.

Watch the video of Lucas making an omelette. Remember you can use whichever ingredients you like for example: cheese, ham, peppers, onion, tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms etc. You will also need 2-3 eggs for your omelette. A grown up will need to help you with the cooking of your omelette.

Fruit Smoothies

To create your fruit smoothie you will need to use a blender and a knife to chop up your fruit. An adult will need to supervise you with using this equipment.

Ingredients;

A splash of milk or fruit juice

Fresh fruit cut into chunks

2 tablespoons of yoghurt.

Instructions

Carefully chop up your fruit.

Place your fruit, milk and yoghurt into a blender.

Blend on full power until you are happy with the consistency.

Enjoy your fruit smoothie!

Mindfulness and Yoga

Finish your day with some relaxing yoga or mindfulness. You may even wish to take part in both activities!

We have been thinking about happiness this week! Take part in this yoga adventure that aims to make you smile!

Take part in this mindfulness meditation to help you feel super relaxed!

Friday: Mother’s Day Cards

On Monday, we started to make Mother’s Day cards for a special lady in our lives. This might be your mum, nanny, grandma or aunty. I know that you were all looking forward to making your cards and taking them home to your special person. Today, we are going to be making a card ready for Sunday. Below are some pictures of cards that you may like to re-create.

You could simply fold a piece of paper in half and draw a lovely picture on the front. You could cut out some hearts or flowers and stick them onto your card. Alternatively you could print out a mothers day card template here. Remember to write a lovely message inside and keep your card in a safe place until Sunday.

End the week with a lovely song!
