Year 4 Week beginning 12th October

Over the last two weeks we have been spending lots of time working on our addition and subtraction and we are getting very good at it!
Next week we will be practising mental addition and subtraction (adding and taking away in your head!) To prepare for next week, I would like you to do the following home work:

  1. Watch this video on BBC Bitesize.
  2. Answer the following questions:

3051 + 9 =
98 + 3142 =
999 + 2452 =
2001 – 300 =
3099 – 40 =
459 – 200 =
Remember, use your head as much as possible – don’t use column method!
Think about the strategy you used. How did you work it out? We’ll be talking about this on Monday!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Next week we are learning how to write a diary entry as Howard Carter.
You can have a look at this page for a reminder about how to write a diary entry. Maybe you could do some practise writing at home!

Next week we are reading ‘Plastic bags? No thanks!’ and answering some questions on it.
The best work you can be doing at home is reading your book every single day. Will you be ready to do a quiz next week?

Please find below your spellings for next week. Make sure you practise them ready for your test!
