Let’s start the day off with some early morning work! So, put your thinking hats on Year 4. Below is a picture of several things combined together – a couple of Maths, Geography, English questions, etc. These questions might be topics we may have not covered in lessons yet but that’s okay! Just give it a good go – you might learn something new! Again, if you need any support, please comment below. Make sure you have left a comment to let us know you’re here too!

Today we are going to learn about shadows.
Watch this video here:

Shadows are formed when an opaque object is placed in front of a light source like in the picture below:

Can you practise making a shadow just like in the picture above? Here are some questions that I would like you to investigate:
1. What happens to the shadow when you move your hand closer to and further away from the light? Why do you think that is?
2. What happens to your shadow if you do this experiment in a light room? What about if you shut all of the curtains and make it dark? What if you tried it at night?
3. Can you go outside and find your shadow? You could draw around it with some chalk or just a rock. Try going outside again in a couple of hours – has your shadow changed? Why do you think this is?

Finally, watch this video. Did the children in this class have similar findings to you?

    1. Of course, remember Chulak is Hamlet (the elephant)’s care taker. He snuck Hamlet out so that all of the slaves didn’t notice and he travelled with Hamlet to the full moon party to see the goddess. That’s all we really know about him so far!
