Most importantly, make sure to stay safe! Have a great day!

9:00-9:10

Let’s start the day off with some early morning work! So, put your thinking hats on Year 4. Below is a nursery rhyme. You need to copy this into your book and practice your handwriting. Remember the joins that we learnt at school. Make sure you have left a comment to let us know you’re here too!

Mary Had a Little Lamb

Mary had a little lamb,
His fleece was white as snow,
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go

He followed her to school one day,
Which was against the rule,
It made the children laugh and play,
To see a lamb at school.

And so the teacher turned him out,
But still he lingered near,
And waited patiently about,
Till Mary did appear.

“What makes the lamb love Mary so?”
The eager children cry;
“Why, Mary loves the lamb, you know,”
The teacher did reply.

Your spellings this week are: circle, decide, different, difficult, enough and exercise. Practise them by clicking on this link here and selecting ‘segment cards’.

Another good way to practise your spelling is by playing this game here. Make sure to choose 3 and 4 spellings.

If you are doing your work today on a tablet or iPad and you have a brother or sister (or parent!) at home, you can try this fun 2-player spelling game. Your opponent can choose words from their year group. See if you can spell your words correct faster than them.

Another fun spellings game can be found here.

For music today, you have a choice of activity.

  1. For 4A: Mr Gifford, who usually delivers your trumpet lessons, has filmed a virtual lesson for you to take part in. Find it below. 4F, although you’re not learning the trumpet, there’s no reason why you can’t still take part in most of this lesson, too.

2. For 4F, you need to log in to Charanga here. (Let us know if you can’t remember your login). At the top, go to ‘sing’ and search for the song called ‘Stop’. Click on ‘For you to compose – Stop’. Give the verse a listen and see if you can change the lyrics so that you can come up with your own verse to the song.

Please understand not all parent can support online daily but dylan has been working
I wasnt even able to take call daily chase ups are adding to people s stress levels
Unfortunately my job is demanding we are trying our best
    Thank you

    1. Hi, thank you for your comment. I agree that it’s difficult and I know that we’re all trying our best in a really difficult situation. Our calls and texts home definitely aren’t designed to add more stress but we need to ensure that all children are still able to learn and are not falling behind in their studies. Dylan has been doing well over the last week and has been on virtual school most days. Please do get in touch at year4@hillstone.org.uk if there is anything else we can do to help or if you would like to discuss this any further.
