Year 5 Thursday 28th January

Good morning Year 5! Welcome to all 5U and 5K pupils. Thank you for coming on to virtual school today. We would like you to log into virtual school every day to access the learning. It is crucial that we maintain a routine that is as close as possible to a normal school day during the next two weeks. New learning will be available each weekday. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need any support or just want to check-in. Remember to tweet your work @hillstoneps. Make sure you leave a comment every day so we know you’re here (each day’s comments section will be used to take a register). Most importantly, make sure to stay safe! Have a great day!

Have you commented to say you are here?

Fantastic news! You can now send your work to us for feedback by uploading it here. Please make sure that you have your name on each piece of work that you submit. Additionally, if you have any questions that you’d prefer to ask your teacher privately, send them to year5@hillstone.org.uk

A special mention goes to Callum.

ART

Remember the steps from the last few weeks:-

Water Washed Backgrounds

It’s highly unlikely that you have paints at home but if you do here’s how you get the water washed background. All you need to do is add twice as much water as paint it’s as simple as that. Then paint unto your paper as lightly as you can so as not to soak the paper.

If you can, practice these as in the various examples below and if not you can try to create a similar effect with pencil crayons as best as you can. Try various combinations of light colours as these seem to work best. Try blending two, three or four colours. Once you have made your water washed backgrounds / pencil crayon backgrounds keep them as we will attempt to use them in the next part of the project.

Use A4 plain paper to do your water washed backgrounds and complete the whole page in that style (whether 1, 2, 3 or 4 colours).

My attempts with pencil crayons and also with highlighter pens but I’ve squashed them up all unto one sheet.

Printing Block

We will be creating our printing device by adding cardboard shapes to a cardboard mount.

Watch the video below to see how it all works.

This week we will finish it all off and if you wish you can have another go and do the whole process over again with a different background and print.

If you don’t have any paints then you’ll need to be creative (as we’re not in school).

Make sure to press your print firmly down on your water washed style background and hold it still in position before you pick it straight up to get the best results.
