Good morning Year 6 and happy Wednesday.
Welcome to our virtual page. We would like you to log in every day to access your learning. As we are all isolating, we will maintain a routine which is as close as possible to a normal school day. New lessons will be uploaded every day and we are all available in the comments section should you require any support.
We hope you enjoy today’s lessons. Please stay safe.
From Miss Kinsman, Mrs Bridges and Mrs Gillett.
Today’s timetable.

9:00-9:15
Good morning. Please say hello in the comments section below so we can mark you in on our registers. Settle in to the day by reading some of the extracts from The Happy News (images below) before writing begins.

Some things to think about this morning…

9:15-10:15

Writing
Thank you for all the writing sent in yesterday; here’s some feedback for you:
As always, please watch the video below, completing the tasks in it. Do pause it whenever I ask you to, but also whenever you need – and you may need to re-watch parts of it. Please do contact me via comments if you need any further help during the lesson. I look forward to reading your writing so please do take a photo of it and submit (using the button below).
If you usually use a sheet for writing with prompt questions on, here is today’s:
10:15-10:30

Enjoy a quick break.

11:45-12:30

Reading
Feedback from yesterday: You thought more carefully about the pink questions which ask you about the meaning of words in the text, so well done for this. This is an ongoing target so we will continue to work more on this throughout the year.
Watch the video below for today’s lesson.
Pause the video each time you are asked to complete a task and also pause and re-watch any time you need to.
Miss Hodgkinson’s group: Complete the comprehension below and then read one of the books you were provided with on Friday, or click on the link below to choose a different text.
Click here to choose a different book to read.
12:30-13:30

Enjoy your lunch and we will see you back here at 13.30.
13:30-13:50

Accelerated Reader
Read your Accelerated Reader book. Let us know how you get on with your quizzes.
13:50-14:35

Hillstone Life Skills
The first thing we could like you to consider is this: What do we mean when we say learning?

There are roughly 150,000km (or more) of neural networks in the human brain and 150,000km is similar to travelling approximately four times round the Earth!

Look at the image above and think about the following questions:
How do you think these images reflect learning?
Do you think this is an effective way of reflecting learning? Why/why not?
Is there anything you would add to it?
Now, your task is to create a way of illustrating and explaining learning to a younger child.
Have a think about how you could do this and what you could create.
Some ideas: a poster, a picture, an iMovie, a comic strip, a story, a poem, a rap, drama.
14:35-15:20

P.E.
Click here to visit Coach’s PE page. Complete one of the activities and tweet us a picture.
15:20-15:35

Find a cosy space at home, then sit back and relax whilst listening to Miss Kinsman read the second half of a retelling of The Tempest.
Miss can we make up our ownPE lesson
Yes, let us know what you do.
Thx
I’ve edited your comment Jenson but if your aunty would prefer you to follow the lessons on Coach’s page, then do that.
I don’t understand how you got 25 when you were explaining. I got 4 for the question you did I got it correct. I did the same thing on the question 5/6 of 30 and got it wrong. My answer was 1 I don’t under stand how you got 25. Please help me when you can.
From Katelyn 🙂 🌈 (^_^)
Tell me the question Katelyn.
Katelyn write the question out for me then I can work it out.
The question is 5/6 of 30
So you should’ve drawn a bar with six sections/part (the denominator). This is divided by the whole which is 30.
30 divided by 6 = 5.
Each section is worth 5.
You want 5 of those sections (the numerator).
5 x 5 =25
Hope that makes it clear.
sorry i forgot to tell u i’m here

Is it okay if i finish now for this morning
Have you spent the suggested amount of time on each task and completed all tasks? For instance, remember that the writing task should take about 25 minutes and you ought to be writing a few quality paragraphs in that time.
Did you start your lessons particularly early?
Yes and i started at 7 ocklock
Wow. That’s early Jenson.
When I was about to start my writing lesson I thought I would check my math answers I got all of the green correct but not the rest but on the going deeper answer it said something about someone called Eva but in the actual question there was no Eva in the question. Please help me with this question if you can.
From Katelyn 🙂 🌈 (^_^)
