Year 6 Monday 30th November

Good morning Year 6 and happy Monday.

Welcome to our virtual page. We would like you to log in every day to access your learning.  As we are all isolating, we will maintain a routine which is as close as possible to a normal school day.  New lessons will be uploaded every day and we are all available in the comments section should you require any support.

We hope you enjoy today’s lessons.  Please stay safe.

From Miss Kinsman, Mrs Bridges and Mrs Gillett.

Don’t forget to let us know you are here by leaving a comment first thing. We use this to take a register and let the office know.

Today’s timetable.

9:00-9:15

Good morning. Please say hello in the comments section below so we can mark you in on our registers. Settle in to the day by reading some of the extracts from The Happy News (images below) before writing begins.

Some things to think about this morning:

9:15-10:15

Writing

Thank you for all the writing sent in last Thursday; here’s some feedback for you:

We are starting a new play today: A Midsummer Night’s Dream! Watch the video below for today’s lesson, pausing it when you are told to (but also at other times if you need to).

Here is the document I mention in the lesson, which you may wish to use:

If you usually use a sheet for writing with prompt questions on, here is today’s:

10:15-10:30

Now click here for your question sheet. Remember you can re-watch parts of the video to help you answer the questions.

Grab a piece of fruit and a drink and let’s watch Newsround together.

11:45-12:30

Reading

Feedback from Thursday’s reading lesson: You did a wonderful job comparing the characters. I thought you showed a thorough understanding of the characters that you chose and this will help with your learning next week.

Watch the video below for today’s lesson.

Pause the video each time you are asked to complete a task and also pause and re-watch any time you need to.

Miss Hodgkinson’s group: Complete the comprehension below and then read one of the books you were provided with on Friday, or click on the link below to choose a different text.

Enjoy your lunch and we will see you back here at 13.30.

Music

As you know, our song for this year’s virtual nativity is Love Shone Down. Below you will find the lyrics and the audio file for you to sing along to and learn the words. Please make sure you spend time doing this as Mr Farr will be recording us when we are back in school.

You sounded so lovely when we practised in the hall, so we cannot wait to hear you singing again!

15:20-15:35

Find a cosy space at home, then sit back and relax whilst listening to Mrs Bridges read part two of a retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

    1. Maths you need to carefully watch the video. Then complete the question that is similar to the one on the video. Repeat with the next question. Just do the green and yellow questions. Watch the video as many times as you need to.

I will explain topic to you when you have completed maths and reading.

  1. Hi all

Mr King wanted you all to know that he isn’t able to come online today but he hopes you enjoy today’s lessons and will be online again tomorrow.

    Miss Kinsman

  2. hi miss I cant hear any lessons other than reading because they are all two quiet and my volume is all the way up on all so tomorrow can you please speak up

    1. Sorry about that Leoni but I barely have a voice at all.
I’ve just checked on my laptop, iPad and phone and I can hear them all.
Can you check your laptop settings please.

      Oh and is Theo online?

    1. Maisie, I think it would help you to re-watch the video. The questions are answered in two different ways.
Watch the example of the first question and then complete and then the bar model is the next examples.

    1. Sorry to hear that, Leoni. I’ve listened back to the videos on my iPad and the volume is okay. You should be able to adjust the volume on the video itself AND on your iPad too. Have you tried doing both of those things?
I can never remember where the volume controls on my iPad are but if you look carefully you’ll find them on one of the long edges of the iPad. I hope this helps.

    1. Morning, Leoni! You’re here and that’s what matters – just work through the lessons and just be prepared to finish a bit later than it says on the timetable!

  3. Sorry I’m late I logged on originally at 9.29. But now I’m on and ready to learn some thing new today. I’m not going to give up if I find something tough or difficult. Hope your all ok and safe.

    From Katelyn 🙂 🌈 (^_^)

    1. Morning, Ruby! You’re here and that’s what matters – you might just finish your day half an hour later than on the timetable (or take a shorter lunch)!

        1. No worries, Skye. I hope you enjoy today’s learning. Remember to watch the videos carefully and pause them when you need to; you might even want to re-watch some bits too.
