If your child is required to isolate or is unable to attend school for an extended period of time, please call the office on 0121 675 3573 and arrange a telephone meeting with Mrs Sheehan, Mrs Driver or Miss Langford to discuss your child’s learning.

This page will be used to provide learning resources to those who are unable to attend school as a result of illness, isolation or any other reason. Furthermore, the materials found on this page may be used by any child who is keen to extend their learning at home.

If you’d like to share your work, you can send it to year2@hillstone.org.uk . Alternatively, we’d be happy to take a look at it on your return to school.

Click here to watch, and join in, with today’s lesson. You will need some counters but if you don’t have any at home, don’t worry. Why not use lego blocks, pieces of pasta or cut up squares of paper instead?

Friday

In class this week, the children have been doing some work based on this story. After listening to the story, can you write down a list of your own likes and dislikes? Can you write down another list of things you CAN do and a list of things you CAN’T do (yet). This will help you when you are back in school.

Carry on with your daily reading by choosing a book (at the right stage for your child) from the Oxford Owl library. You need to register on the home page of the website, but this is free! Click here for your own virtual library…

This half term, our topic is called ‘Good to be me’. Last week, we practised sketching different facial features. Can you create a sketch of somebody in your family including all of their features? The video will help you to get your features into proportion.

This week, we will be taking part in a sandwich making workshop. Can you draw a picture of your perfect sandwich. Think about the fillings that you would need to make your sandwich and also the equipment that you would need to use. Once you have drawn your picture and added some labels, make your sandwich with the help of your grown up!

This week, we will be conducting a science investigation at school. We want to measure our heart rate after completing different activities. Watch the video below to find out how to take your pulse.Complete the following activities for 30 seconds and then take your pulse rate for the next 30 seconds. Which activity raised your pulse rate the most? Why do you think this is?

Activities to complete: 30 seconds of sitting down, 30 seconds of running, 30 seconds of jumping, 30 seconds of star jumps, 30 seconds of standing still. You could complete other activities in addition to this!
