Please look at the whole page. We start with writing then maths. Moving onto guided reading then after lunch, Accelerated Reading, topic and PE. We will end the day with a story. All the lessons are there to keep you entertained and happy. This page is meant to help you and give you a little bit of Hillstone at home.

Stay safe and I’ll see you soon. Mr Bennett, Miss Thornton, Mrs Edwards.
We had some fantastic work yesterday. So well done if you sent yours in. These are just some that we would like to mention because of the great effort that they put in; Ellie, Ava W, Freddy, Tyler, Leanne and Jorge!
Keep it coming and remember to put your name on so that we can give you a shout out tomorrow.
Happy World Book Day. Enjoy all the brilliant activities.
We would like you to log in into virtual school every day to access the learning. It is crucial that we maintain a routine that is as close as possible to a normal school day. New learning will be available each weekday and we ask that you leave us a comment (questions or messages) you have for your teacher. These will be answered daily so don’t hesitate to comment should you need any support or just want to check-in. Any work that you do, remember to tweet it @hillstoneps.
Most importantly, make sure to stay safe! Have a great day!
Remember to sign in by saying ‘Hi’ in the comments box.
Good News!
We now have a place that you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photo of what you have done and submit it here. Please make sure your name is written clearly somewhere on the photo.
We’re looking forward to seeing your work!

Your edited and improved poems yesterday were great! You all thought of relevant expanded noun phrases to add detail to the simple poems. Well done.
Be careful of simple spelling mistakes. Always remember your RWI sounds and keep a check on those year 1 and 2 key words.
Today we will be visiting the Bournville BookFest to enjoy the fantastic words of Michael Rosen and my all time favourite poet Benjamin Zephaniah. Enjoy the videos and take part in the activities. The sheets are below as PDF. I’m going to draw along with Talking Turkey!

When you have enjoyed these activities, check out the other amazing things you can do this World Book Day. I’m off to learn how to draw Dobby from Harry Potter!

Feedback from yesterday’s lesson is to make sure if you are not using the grid paper make sure that you lines are accurately measured using a ruler otherwise the perimeter will be incorrect!
Today, we are continuing to explore perimeter of different 2D shapes. Download the lesson boards, watch all the videos and complete the worksheets.
Any questions, just pop into the comment box and we will help you. Enjoy!

Guided Reading
There were some great story boards yesterday! Even thought the focus of this lesson is reading, you must make sure that you are punctuation your sentences correctly using a capital letter to start with and a full stop to end with.
Listen to the story again. Today we are going to continue to create a story board for the main events that happen from where the jar of water enters the ocean, up until the end of the story.
Listen to the story again and then download the boards for today and complete the task
Download the lesson and complete the task. This is continuing on with what you were doing yesterday.
Continue using the story boards from yesterday. I have included them again however, just incase you needed them.
13:30-13:50
Accelerated Reader
Read your AR book. When you are finished, you can take your quiz on Accelerated Reader. You can login here. Any problems, (for example, if you can’t remember your login details) just leave us a comment at the bottom of the page.
Click HERE to visit an online reading website. Select any story you would like to hear and click on ‘Youtube’ (so that you can view and listen to the story through Youtube). Don’t forget to let us know what stories you are reading/have read in the comments below!

Topic
Today in topic we are going to be continuing with our learning about the water cycle. We are going to use our knowledge from our last topic lesson where we became fully immersed in the ‘Now Press Play’ activity, where we labelled the diagram and learnt new scientific words and also our knowledge from the story ‘The Rhythm of the Rain’. All of this is going to help us with today’s task.
Today, we are going to create our own story. We are going to pretend that we are water droplets travelling through the water cycle. This only needs to be a short story, BUT it does need to include all of the main parts of the water cycle and you need to use the scientific vocabulary that we learnt last lesson.
Download today’s lesson board to give you more information and guidance for your task.
Watch me model the first part of my story to you.
Its time to move! What could you do today to be active? You could go on a walk, go for a run, ride your bike or dance to your favourite song. If you are struggling for sometime fun to do, click here for one of coaches fun activities.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the story!
For World Book Day, Mr Bennett will read a beautiful book called A Child of Books all about the adventures books will take you on. Enjoy.
We hope that you enjoyed today’s lessons, we look forward to seeing all of your work. Have a relaxing evening and we will see you tomorrow.
