Year 6 Monday 18th January 2021

Good morning Year 6 and happy Monday.

Welcome to our virtual page. As we are all living under the restrictions of a national lockdown, we will maintain a routine which is as close as possible to a normal school day.  New lessons will be uploaded every day and we are available in the comments section should you require any support.

We hope you enjoy today’s lessons.  Please stay safe.

From Miss Kinsman, Mrs Bridges and Mrs Gillett.

Today’s timetable.

9:00-9:15

Good morning. Please say hello in the comments section below so we can mark you in on our registers. Settle in to the day by reading an extract from The Happy News (image below) which I think we could all do with right now, before writing begins.

Something happy this morning…

9:15-10:15

Writing

Thank you for all the writing sent in last Thursday; here’s some feedback for you.

Here’s today’s writing video. As always, please pause when asked to, but also when you need to. You may find it useful to make notes as you watch, and please do ask questions via comments if you would find that useful too. Submit your learning at the end of the session (with your name on!), please.

If you usually use a sheet for writing with prompt questions on, here is today’s. Also, you won’t need to watch all the video; instead, stop it when I start talking about colons as your focus is different and has been sent to your families via Marvellous Me.

10:15-10:30

Enjoy a quick break.

10:30-11:30

Reading

Feedback from Thursday: It’s clear that you are trying hard and referring back to the text when looking for answers. This is great, so let’s keep it up.

Watch the video below for today’s lesson.

Pause and re-watch the video any time you need to. Any resources you need for the lesson will be underneath the video. Please remember to place your name on any work you submit, and if you need any help at all, please ask in the comments section.

Task 1: complete the activity sheet . Use an atlas, globe or the internet to help you.

Task 2 : when you have finished, watch the next film clip, click here. Draw in the continent boundaries. Add an interesting fact, from the clip, to each continent..

Good luck detectives!

PE

There are a few options for your PE sessions, each day.

  1. Follow along with Joe Wicks, on his YouTube channel here, where he will be back to doing live workouts every morning at 9am. You can catch up with these in the afternoon, or shift your day around so you start the day this way and follow along live.
  2. Check out the activities on Coach’s PE From Home page here and choose one (or more!) to complete.
  3. Go for some exercise outdoors, whether it’s a walk, a jog, a run or something else.
  4. Choose an activity from Youth Sports Trust. You can find a list of fun activities here.

If you are able to, please take photos or videos of whichever activity you choose and upload to Twitter @hillstoneps (include your name and year group) so we can see what you are getting up to!

    1. Thanks for letting us know Mason. I will have a look now too, but it may be that it is missing, in which case I will feedback to Miss Kinsman.

    2. I can’t see it either Mason. It must be missing from the sheet, but well done for finding all of the others, and for persevering with Arctic Ocean!

    1. Thanks for letting us know you’re here, Faith.
That sounds great about your daily exercise. I’ve tried hard to get out for more runs recently and am really enjoying them.
