Year 6 Thursday 14th January 2021

Good morning Year 6 and happy Thursday.

Welcome to our virtual page. We would like you to log in every day to access your learning. As we are now in a national lockdown, we will maintain a routine which is as close as possible to a normal school day.  New lessons will be uploaded every day and we are available in the comments section should you require any support.

We hope you enjoy today’s lessons.  Please stay safe.

From Miss Kinsman, Mrs Bridges and Mrs Gillett.

Today’s timetable.

9:00-9:15

Good morning. Please say hello in the comments section below so we can mark you in on our registers. Settle in to the day by reading an extract from The Happy News (image below) which I think we could all do with right now, before writing begins.

9:15-10:15

Writing

Thank you for all the writing sent in yesterday; here’s some feedback for you:

Watch today’s video below, please. You will be directed at certain points to pause it, including to re-watch Pigeon Impossible. Do ask questions if you need to via comments and re-watch parts of the teaching video if needed.

If you usually use a sheet for writing with prompt questions on, here is today’s. Remember, this is only for children who normally work with a teaching assistant right at the start of a lesson and normally complete their writing on a sheet like this.

10:15-10:30

Enjoy a quick break.

Feedback from yesterday: There were some really well thought out responses, and some more great insights into the content chosen. I am really pleased to see the level of detail that some of you are including in your answers. Well done.

Here’s today’s French lesson. Enjoy!

14:50-15:20

PE

There are a few options for your PE sessions, each day.

  1. Follow along with Joe Wicks, on his YouTube channel here, where he will be back to doing live workouts every morning at 9am. You can catch up with these in the afternoon, or shift your day around so you start the day this way and follow along live.
  2. Check out the activities on Coach’s PE From Home page here and choose one (or more!) to complete.
  3. Go for some exercise outdoors, whether it’s a walk, a jog, a run or something else.
  4. Choose an activity from Youth Sports Trust. You can find a list of fun activities here.

If you are able to, please take photos or videos of whichever activity you choose and upload to Twitter @hillstoneps (include your name and year group) so we can see what you are getting up to!

You sounded so lovely when we practised in the hall, so we cannot wait to hear you singing again!

15:20-15:35

Book of Hopes

Find a cosy space at home, then sit back and relax whilst listening to Mrs Bridges read some extracts from The Book of Hopes.

  1. Good morning – Random information – RSC are providing free access, for schools, to Michael Morpurgo’s re-imagining of some Shakespeare plays. Are you aware of it, or would you like me to send you the blurb?

    Thanks

    1. Hi Lexi. Sadly, I don’t think it will be before February half term, but hopefully we will back after that 🙂 In the meantime, we will be here, on the virtual school, with you every day and we are all so impressed with your hard work and commitment.

  2. access for schools, to Michael Morphugo’s reimagining of the Shakespeare’s plays . Do you know about this or if you want details, who should I email them to??

    thanks

    Lisa

    1. Good morning Jack. I have double checked and the sound on the writing video is working. Check you have the sound fully up on the video and the device that you’re accessing the virtual school. I hope that helps.
