Short TED Talk Video: “The secret to giving great feedback ...

Feedback from Friday: As we had a fantastic Bhav drama session on Friday the only feedback is how amazing your raps were that you all created. I loved how you made the bars rhyme and some of you even made a beat to accompany it. I really enjoyed looking at your videos and listening to your recordings.

Today we are going to be doing a grammar lesson looking at apostrophes. There is a great video from the Oak Academy for you to watch. You will be completing your work as you are watching the video, so get your work book and pencil ready.

Click here to watch the video for today’s lesson. I hope that you enjoy it.

Short TED Talk Video: “The secret to giving great feedback ...

Feedback from Friday: Make sure that when you are finding a fraction of a number for example; 5/6 of 16, make sure that once you have found 1/6 by dividing the whole amount by the denominator (bottom number) you times that by the numerator (top number). Some put the answer at 3, where they only found 1/6, they had forgotten to then times this by the numerator. So it should have been 1/6 of 18 is 3 and then 3 x 5 (the top number) equals 15.

Today, we are starting a new topic. We will be learning about angles. There are some practical elements in today’s lesson for you to explore, so you will need to get some bit of equipment ready. To help you in this lesson, you might want to get yourself some pencils or lolly pop sticks (if you have them) An analogue clock or watch may also be helpful (if not a print out of them). If you haven’t got these, don’t worry as I will be doing some video demonstrations on a printed out clock.

Any questions, just pop into the comment box and we will help you. Enjoy!

Watch the video below to find out what you will be doing.

Hillstone Lifeskills

In the next few lessons we will be exploring our feelings and well being.

Today is the last lesson about feelings and emotions. So far we have learnt about what feelings are, how we can express feelings and what happens when we let them build up. Today we will explore how different feelings can make us behave in a certain way and what we can do when this happens.

Today’s lesson:

Click here for a PDF of the lesson for you to read and work through.

Finish Hillstone Lifeskills with a story today about a feeling we have looked at well in our lessons. It is called The Huge Bag of Worries.

13:30-13:50

Read your AR book. When you are finished, you can take your quiz on Accelerated Reader. You can login here. Any problems, (for example, if you can’t remember your login details) just leave us a comment at the bottom of the page.

Topic: Remarkable Romans!

In topic today we will be continuing to explore Roman life in Britain. So far you have looked at Roman houses, if I was a Roman I would definitely have liked to live in a Villa! In today’s lesson we will be focusing on Roman Baths; what they were, what Romans did there and learning some really interesting facts and vocabulary about them. All the links to videos that you will need are below as well as the lesson PDF download for today. You can print any worksheets, but do not worry if you haven’t got a printer all the activities can be completed on paper.

The video will explain some of the vocabulary in today’s lesson. The Roman’s had very interesting names for the rooms and the equipment used in the baths. It is not the whole lesson just some pronunciations of words and the meanings. Watch the videos and complete today’s task; labelling the different rooms in the Roman Bath and then writing down 3 interesting facts you have learnt about them.

Its time to move! What could you do today to be active? You could go on a walk, go for a run, ride your bike or dance to your favourite song. If you are struggling for sometime fun to do, click here for one of coaches fun activities.

Before the story today, relax and unwind with some mindful meditation.

I have chosen a story out of my little girl’s book box to share with you today. It is called Sofia saves the Ocean. I love this story as it is about how we should all do our part in looking after the world around us. I hope you enjoy it.

We hope that you enjoyed today’s lessons, we look forward to seeing all of your work. Have a relaxing evening and we will see you tomorrow.

        1. It was great Ellie! I really liked your fact about the Romans building the Roman Baths in the different places they conquered!
Well done for all of your hard work today 🙂

      1. I have just looked at your work, you have explored angles really well in our first lesson. Remember to try and draw your lines with a ruler if you can as it will make the angle more accurate in future lessons. Keep up the hard work Lacey! 🙂

  1. Good morning Year 3! This week is something called Children’s Mental Health Week and the theme this year is ‘expressing yourself’. At different times this week there will be opportunities for you to listen to a story, do some mindfulness meditation and take part in a few activities that will all be linked into Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

Have a lovely day learning, remember to comment and send me in any work that you complete today. Keep checking those Marvellous Me badges!

    Miss Thornton
