Wednesday 10th March

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done today!

Do send us an email at year2@hillstone.org.uk if you need any further support. Feel free to send your work in via email too!

Welcome to today’s maths lesson. Watch the video of Miss Langford to find out what we are going to be doing!

If you haven’t done so already, collect your 3D shapes from around your house. Now it’s time to count the faces, edges and vertices on each of your shapes. Follow this link to download your recording grid. I have put some extra rows on your grid in case you have found some different 3D shapes. If you do not have a printer then just draw your grid into your workbook or onto some paper.

If you are unable to find any 3D shapes in your house then you could download these 3D shape nets. Print them off, cut them out and stick them together to make your shapes. If you did find your own 3D shapes, you may wish to print these off and put them together as an extra activity if you have the time!

Spend 10 minutes on Times Table Rock Stars today. Click the link to the right to access the website.

We suggest you try the RWI activities listed below for your group. However, this does not stop you from trying any of the other activities too!

PINK /ORANGE/YELLOW Follow the link to complete your daily speed sound reading . Now let’s practise reading some red words!

BLUE/GREY Follow the link to complete your daily speed sound reading . Now practise reading some longer words! Now let’s practise reading some red words!

OFF RWI Group Activity Today, we are going to be getting ready for our future work on using a dictionary. Before we can use a dictionary correctly, we must understand what alphabetical order means and also how to put words into alphabetical order. Listen to and join in with the alphabet song below.

Now watch the video of Miss Langford to find out what your task is for today!

Main Activity- This should take between 20-30 minutes to complete.

Work through the different difficulty levels below and order the sets of words alphabetically in your workbook or on paper. You can always re-watch and pause the video of Miss Langford if you need a reminder for how to complete each stage.

  1. Hi, I have just uploaded their entries for the ‘Happiness’ Art competition that they have done this afternoon. Leia wanted to paint her artwork on canvas and Luke has used Paint 3D on the PC.

  2. Good morning, we seem to be having a problem with the videos. It takes a long time to get through them as they keep stopping. Our internet seems ok and connected well. The maths video is ok.

    1. Hi there. Sorry to her you’re having troubles. They seemed okay on my laptop this morning and I’ve just had another check. I will message our ICT support thought to check as well. I can only suggest maybe starting them, then pressing pause to allow them to buffer before settling to watch the whole video (I am certainly no computer expert though – just what I’d try at home!) Let me know how you get on.

  4. Good afternoon, I have sent a picture of Isla’s happiness project, it still needs a few finishing touches like a Galaxy bar wrapper to stick on as (in Isla’s words) this makes her very happy, along with being with her sister, playing in the snow and her favourite bunny(snuggle bunny) she is also going to include sleepover at Nanny and Gramps house. She has also enjoyed making omelettes. She put in mushrooms, peppers, cheese and tomatoes. They were yummy.

  5. Moutasim has done his maths, English and art work. We didn’t have paint, so instead he has created a fortress out of Lego. He also insisted I send his exercise video from yesterday.

  6. I’ve sent Isla’s maths and English work to you. She is having a go at making the 3d shapes as well. Isla made omelettes yesterday and has been adding more detail to her happiness project over the last few days. She has also completed 10 mins of TTRockstars.

    1. Thank you so much. I’ve just marked the work and sent over some well earned Marvellous Me badges. Well done, Isla! I can’t wait to see your happiness project.

    1. Sofia and Mia have completed the maths and English work which I have uploaded, and they have both done TTRS. They are currently doing their art work which they are very excited about

  7. Good morning, everyone! We had such a great day on Monday and it’s such a shame that we cannot be together in school as we should be this week. Our virtual school is now up and running for you and new lessons will be available for English, maths and topic every day. Do let me know you’re here by leaving a message below and if you need any help, please don’t hesitate to contact us either within this message box, or by e-mailing year2@hillstone.org.uk.
Have a great day everyone! Mrs Sheehan
