Friday 12th March
It was very hard to choose a Hillstone Star this week. So many of you have continued to make such a super effort at home after Monday’s unexpected closure. If you’ve found it a little difficult this week then don’t worry, next week is a brand new week!
Click below to find out who is this week’s star is…
Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done today!
It’s Friday today which means that it’s arithmetic day! We are going to be practising column addition and subtraction today. Watch the video of Miss Langford to find out more!
Here is a link to the simple addition and subtraction sheet and here is the link to the more challenging sheet. Instead of printing off the sheets, write out the column addition and subtraction problems in your workbook or on paper.
Spend 10 minutes on Times Tables Rock Stars today!
These are the suggested activities for your RWI group, however, you can have a go at any of the activities listed below.
PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. Read Red Words.
YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. Read Red Words.
BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. Read Red Words.
ALL GROUPS – Watch this video which helps to explain the difference between fiction and non-fiction.
OFF RWI – The video below takes you through today’s activity. You only need a piece of paper and a pencil to complete the task. You are going to be predicting what a non-fiction book might be about just from its cover. This activity should take between 35 and 45 minutes.
.
We now have our VIRTUAL LIBRARY page. Here you have access to a range of other texts to read. You can choose from fiction or non-fiction, but choose wisely from the selection and enjoy what you are reading!
Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.
