Wednesday 10th March
Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done today!
Do send us an email at year2@hillstone.org.uk if you need any further support. Feel free to send your work in via email too!
Welcome to today’s maths lesson. Watch the video of Miss Langford to find out what we are going to be doing!
If you haven’t done so already, collect your 3D shapes from around your house. Now it’s time to count the faces, edges and vertices on each of your shapes. Follow this link to download your recording grid. I have put some extra rows on your grid in case you have found some different 3D shapes. If you do not have a printer then just draw your grid into your workbook or onto some paper.
If you are unable to find any 3D shapes in your house then you could download these 3D shape nets. Print them off, cut them out and stick them together to make your shapes. If you did find your own 3D shapes, you may wish to print these off and put them together as an extra activity if you have the time!
Spend 10 minutes on Times Table Rock Stars today. Click the link to the right to access the website.
We suggest you try the RWI activities listed below for your group. However, this does not stop you from trying any of the other activities too!
PINK /ORANGE/YELLOW Follow the link to complete your daily speed sound reading . Now let’s practise reading some red words!
BLUE/GREY Follow the link to complete your daily speed sound reading . Now practise reading some longer words! Now let’s practise reading some red words!
OFF RWI Group Activity Today, we are going to be getting ready for our future work on using a dictionary. Before we can use a dictionary correctly, we must understand what alphabetical order means and also how to put words into alphabetical order. Listen to and join in with the alphabet song below.
Now watch the video of Miss Langford to find out what your task is for today!
Main Activity- This should take between 20-30 minutes to complete.
Work through the different difficulty levels below and order the sets of words alphabetically in your workbook or on paper. You can always re-watch and pause the video of Miss Langford if you need a reminder for how to complete each stage.

Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.
