It sounds quite dramatic. What do you think makes it sound dramatic? (Look at how it’s set out, as well as what is written.)
They’re short phrases used for effect. It emphasises the animal cruelty related to rhino poaching. Nicola Davies also mentions ‘we close our eyes’. This suggests that the rhino knows what is coming.
