Feedback from yesterday
I know that some of you found yesterday’s maths a little bit tricky (it is difficult!). If that was you, before you start today’s lesson, spend some time playing this game here or here (try level 5 or 6). They are both good ways to visualise the fractions and will hopefully make you feel a bit more confident about them.

Today we are going to be learning how to simplify mixed numbers.

Today’s Tasks:
1. Watch the video
2. Complete the worksheet questions
3. If you’re feeling confident, try the challenge question
4. Play the Kahoot quiz (details below!)

Today’s lesson uses a lot of times table knowledge. Make sure you get these open in front of you. You may find the two documents below useful:

Hold a sentence. The website for this resource is above.

Your spellings this week are: circle, decide, different, difficult, enough and exercise. Practise them by clicking on this link here and selecting ‘segment cards’.

Another good way to practise your spelling is by playing this game here. Make sure to choose 3 and 4 spellings.

If you are doing your work today on a tablet or iPad and you have a brother or sister (or parent!) at home, you can try this fun 2-player spelling game. Your opponent can choose words from their year group. See if you can spell your words correct faster than them.

Another fun spellings game can be found here.

Hillstone Life Skills

In Hillstone Life Skills, we are going to be thinking about Internet Safety. Because we are all spending so much time on the internet, it’s important to know how to use it safely. Today we are going to be learning about search engines.

Search engines (like google) use algorithms to help give you the most useful results first.

Some companies will pay the search engine so that their results show at the top of the screen.

You are going to practise using a search engine to see how easy it can be to find out information.

Your Task:

  • Choose a question to find the answer to from this sheet:
  • Answer the questions on the sheet below:
  • Let us know what you found out in the comments!
