Year 6 Wednesday 13th January 2021

Good morning Year 6 and happy Wednesday.

Welcome to our virtual page. As we are all living under the restrictions of a national lockdown, we will maintain a routine which is as close as possible to a normal school day.  New lessons will be uploaded every day and we are available in the comments section should you require any support.

We hope you enjoy today’s lessons.  Please stay safe.

From Miss Kinsman, Mrs Bridges and Mrs Gillett.

Today’s timetable.

9:00-9:15

Good morning. Please say hello in the comments section below so we can mark you in on our registers. Settle in to the day by reading an extract from The Happy News (image below) which I think we could all do with right now, before writing begins.

HLS

Hillstone Life Skills

Recap back to the lesson last week. What two goals did you set yourself?

What does a person need in order to achieve their goals? Jot down a list of qualities and/or skills that you think are important, before having a look at the list I have created below.

Some important qualities/skills that I think would be necessary for someone to achieve their goals are:

resilience

organisation

determination

self-belief

courage

focus

There are many other important qualities/skills. What else did you think of?

In today’s session, we are going to look at how we could break our goal down into smaller, achievable steps.

The template below is one way that we could set it out, but you can choose any way you like as long as it is clear.

Watch the video below for the rest of this session – this will help you break down your goal into achievable steps.

14:45-15:20

PE

There are a few options for your PE sessions, each day.

  1. Follow along with Joe Wicks, on his YouTube channel here, where he will be back to doing live workouts every morning at 9am. You can catch up with these in the afternoon, or shift your day around so you start the day this way and follow along live.
  2. Check out the activities on Coach’s PE From Home page here and choose one (or more!) to complete.
  3. Go for some exercise outdoors, whether it’s a walk, a jog, a run or something else.
  4. Choose an activity from Youth Sports Trust. You can find a list of fun activities here.

If you are able to, please take photos or videos of whichever activity you choose and upload to Twitter @hillstoneps (include your name and year group) so we can see what you are getting up to!

15:20-15:35

Find a cosy space at home, then sit back and relax whilst listening to Miss Kinsman read some extracts from The Book of Hopes.

    From Katelyn 🙂 🌈 (^_^)

    1. Hi Keelan,

Are you on the writing lesson? As it’s your first day on the virtual school (I think), you will need to watch Pigeon Impossible first. Here’s the link to it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEjUAnPc2VA&list=PLQ5dHT9Is1ie4cvhiuNWurHzZEnOkQu6k&index=21&t=0s

And then, as you’ve missed out on the first few tasks for this animation, I suggest you then write a few simple sentences today about what happens in it.

Or, alternatively, find Monday’s page and do Monday’s writing today instead!

        1. Good morning Skye.

Have you worked through Mrs Gillett’s video as she explains the task on there as well as offering a lot of useful advice on what and how to do it.
