Year 6 Wednesday 3rd March 2021

Good morning Year 6 and happy Wednesday.

Welcome to our virtual page. As we are all living under the restrictions of a national lockdown, we will maintain a routine which is as close as possible to a normal school day. New lessons will be uploaded every day and we are available in the comments section should you require any support.

We hope you enjoy today’s lessons.  Do send us in photos of your work using the buttons on this page, and remembering to include your name! And, please stay safe.

From Miss Kinsman, Mrs Bridges and Mrs Gillett.

Today’s timetable.

9:00-9:15

Good morning. Please say hello in the comments section below so we can mark you in on our registers. Settle in to the day by reading an extract from one of my favourite books, and taking some time to think about it.

Writing

Thank you for all the writing sent in yesterday; Marvellous Me messages will be sent to your grown-ups this morning (and apologies that they weren’t sent yesterday).

Today, we are continuing our focus on character. Everything you need is in the video below; please ensure you spend at least 30 minutes on the final task (and I remind you of this in the video too).

If you usually use a sheet for writing with prompt questions on, and work with a teaching assistant at the start of a lesson, here is today’s task:

10:15-10:30

Enjoy a quick break.

10:30-11:30

Maths

Warm up: Play Countdown; click here.

For yesterday’s answers click here.

Feedback from yesterday: Super. The only question some of you need to check is the yellow one. y/4 = 28 so the inverse would be 28 x 4 = 112

Watch the lesson above, pausing at the appropriate times to complete any questions.

Now click here for your question sheet. Remember you can re-watch parts of the video to help you answer the questions.

Click here for the pink questions only if you are finding the work tricky.

Extension questions: If you finish the questions quickly here are some extra questions to have a go at with the answers here.

Miss Hodgkinson’s group: warm-up click here and, for 10 minutes, practise the times tables you are currently working on.

Miss Hodgkinson’s group: watch the lesson below.

Miss Hodgkinson’s group: AL and JF click here for your questions. KK and KB click here for your questions.

11:30-11:45

Grab a piece of fruit and a drink and let’s watch Newsround together.

Reading

Feedback from yesterday:

Watch the video below for today’s lesson.

Pause and re-watch the video any time you need to. Please remember to place you name on any work you submit, and if you need any help at all, please ask in the comments section.

Miss Hodgkinson’s group: click on the links below and complete each session.

PE

There are a few options for your PE sessions, each day.

  1. Follow along with Joe Wicks, on his YouTube channel here, where he will be back to doing live workouts every morning at 9am. You can catch up with these in the afternoon, or shift your day around so you start the day this way and follow along live.
  2. Check out the activities on Coach’s PE From Home page here and choose one (or more!) to complete.
  3. Go for some exercise outdoors, whether it’s a walk, a jog, a run or something else.
  4. Choose an activity from Youth Sports Trust. You can find a list of fun activities here.

If you are able to, please take photos or videos of whichever activity you choose and upload to Twitter @hillstoneps (include your name and year group) so we can see what you are getting up to!
