This week, we’re going to be learning all about shapes and patterns! To start, I want us to think about solid shapes. Watch the videos below before having a go at recognising and naming the shapes on your own.

Click the picture on the right to watch the video on solid shapes.

Sing along to the song to help you to learn the 3D shapes!

Complete the worksheet below my naming the 3D shapes and having a hunt around your home to see which 3D shapes you can find. For example, a sphere could be a football or a cuboid could be your toy box.

You can write the name of the 3D item you find, or draw a picture. One of them may be a little tricky!

Today we are going to be looking at questions and what questions are. Watch the video below and the flip chart to find out about questions and have a go at writing your own. What could the question be for the images in the flipchart?

Think carefully about the sounds in words and ensuring that a sensible sized space is left between words when we write. The children use the charts below at every writing opportunity in school.

It is important to encourage your child to say their sentences aloud before writing them and to read them back to ensure they make sense.

We’re also learning to count in our 2s, 5s, and 10s.

Click the picture on the left to play Hit the Button – press times tables – tables up to 10 – choose x 2, x 5 or x 10.

Hillstone Life Skills

Click on the links below to access today’s Hillstone Life Skills lesson. Today the children are looking at the similarities and differences between themselves and others. Discuss the slides first, then complete the worksheet.

It is important to be able to talk to your friends and family about your thoughts and feelings. For today’s activity it would be helpful for you to work with another person in your household to read or to explain an emotion.

Watch the video below to see what some of the emotions and feelings look like before completing the activity underneath.

Don’t forget, you can share your work from today with your teachers by clicking the button below to upload your work. Please remember to put your name on it!

When you press the button there is also the option to email your work to us. This is the best way to send so that we can reply!

    1. Hello, I’m pleased to hear that Mia has accessed the virtual school this morning. I hope you are all keeping well. Thank you for checking in with us. Enjoy the weekend πŸ™‚

        1. The day’s learning is usually updated first thing in the morning to allow everybody the chance to access the day. However, at the bottom of the day’s learning, there is a set of page numbers that you can click, these will take you to each day of learning. This will be accessible at any time during the whole week. When the week has finished, the week of learning will be on the main Year 1 Virtual Classroom page underneath the ‘Today’s lesson’ chalkboard. I hope this helps πŸ™‚

    1. I did see and I have just sent her Marvellous Me badges. The lesson for today was for them to retell the story of the Great Fire of London using their text map from yesterday. I hope that helps.
