Year 2 Week beginning 15th March

Tuesday 16th March

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done!

Do send us an email at year2@hillstone.org.uk if you need any further support. Feel free to send your work in via email too!

Click here to share your work with us.

We’ll be learning about clock wise and anticlockwise turns today. Watch, and join in, with the video below. This lesson will take around 40 minutes.

Click here for today’s worksheet (explained in the video.) If you can’t print the pirate sheets, just follow the directions from the screen and write down what you land on in your workbook or on a piece of paper. Answers are on the third sheet.

The easier version is here if you’re finding things a little tricky (which is fine!)

If you’d like to practise clockwise and anti-clockwise for a little longer, then click on the Oak Academy lesson below. You don’t have to do this Oak Academy lesson if you don’t want to, just give it a go if you feel you need to.

We suggest you do the activities for your RWI group, but there is nothing stopping you from accessing the other activities too.

PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. Red words.

YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. Reading longer words.

BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. Reading longer words.

ALL GROUPS – Listen to, and watch the story again. Do you think there really is such a thing as a Loch Ness Monster?

OFF RWI GROUP I hope you are enjoying this story! Today we are going to find out how much you have been paying attention to the story and the illustrations. Watch the short video to find out what you will be doing today. this activity should take no more than 30 minutes, depending on how you decide to do it.

Click here for the sheet with the statements on it for you to sort into true and false.

We now also have our VIRTUAL LIBRARY page. Here you have access to a range of other texts to read. You can decide if you want to read some fiction or non-fiction. Try to choose something you can read to yourself, or you might want to read to an adult.

PARENTS/CARERS Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Click on the ‘Topic’ sign above for today’s topic lessons.

Enjoy the story ‘Ada Twist, Scientist’ by Andrea Beaty today.

  1. Hi everyone,

I have had a lovely sketch of Nessie submitted but there is no name on it. If you think it is yours then please let me know so that I can send you a Marvellous Me badge.

          1. Sorry it failed half way through and I had no idea which pictures uploaded or not, so you may have some duplicates.
