Year 2 Week beginning 1st February

Monday 1st February

There is a factual mistake in this video – can you find it?

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week. We have Wellbeing pages on our Virtual school, or you can click here to get to the page for ideas to help you.

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done today!

Click here to share your work with us.

This week in maths, we will be exploring fractions. For today’s lesson, have a few pieces of paper ready to fold, tear or cut up to help you to explore the idea of ‘equal parts.’ Neatly tear some pages out the back of your workbook if you need to.

Watch, and join in with, the video below first (ignore it when it directs you to answer some questions.) Then watch my video.

Click here for today’s worksheet. If you can’t print the work, then focus on answering 2, 3, 5 and 7 in your workbook. Or, and this would be so much better, try making your own equal parts as I did in my video. Share three ways you have done this. It could be with paper, coins or even food!

It’s a Monday! Which means 10 minutes on Times Table Rock Stars is on our timetable today. Click the link to the right to access the website.

Carry on with your daily reading by choosing a book (at the right stage for your child) from the Oxford Owl library. This is the link to the information you need to access Oxford Owl. Once you are onto the website you can choose a book at your RWI phonics level OR from your book band level.

We now also have our VIRTUAL LIBRARY page. Here you have access to a range of other texts to read.

Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Click on the ‘Topic’ sign above to see today’s topic lessons.

Today’s story isn’t a story, it’s a song. Please join in with singing the lyrics and playing any musical instruments you may have at home, or any you have made.

Here is a link to the lyrics for the song.
