Year 2 Week beginning 22nd February

Friday 26th February

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done!

It’s Friday today! And our final maths lesson of the week is always arithmetic. Today, we will focus on subtracting 10 from a given number. Watch my video below, pausing when I ask you to, to have a go at some subtraction in your workbook. Today’s main task is within the video rather than on a worksheet today.

You may find this 100 square useful. If you can’t print it, don’t worry, as I include one in the video too. Suggested timing – 35minutes.

Click on the game below if you’d like to practise both adding and subtracting 10.

And finally, spend 10 minutes on Times Tables Rock Stars! Well done for any time spent on TTRS this week. The leader board below celebrates those who have earned the most coins over the past week. Great work if you made the top five!

These are suggested activities for your RWI group. Please feel free to try some of the other activities listed too.

PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. You can also try Red Words and Hold A Sentence. Take a short break between each video.

YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. You can also try Red Words and Reading Longer Words. Take a short break between each video.

BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. You can also try Red Words and Reading Longer Words . Take a short break between each video.

OFF RWI GROUP (suggested timing – 45 minutes, using the video, with short breaks. If you are still working after this time, you might want to finish your story at that point.) Use your completed story map to help you write your story today. If you did not do a story map yesterday, there is a completed one here you can use. The video will take you through how to change your story map into a story to be proud of.

We now also have our VIRTUAL LIBRARY page. Here you have access to a range of other texts to read. Don’t forget, you can always access this page at the weekend too and there is a huge range of different books you can enjoy on your own, or with a family member.

PARENTS/CARERS Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Click on the ‘Topic’ sign above to see today’s topic lessons.

The final story for this week is ‘Mr Large in Charge’.

  2. Hi, I have just uploaded todays work but have realised thier names are not on the story boards. Lukes has a green border and Leias has a pink border. Thanks

  3. Hi Mrs Driver, I have sent Moutasim’s maths, English and topic video and pictures. I have also included Tuesdays work as well. Moutasim finds the yoga more calming than the meditation and asking why was the blue frog sad? And why didn’t he talk earlier? And then concluded all he wanted was a friend because he was lonely.
