Year 2 Week beginning 18th January

Tuesday 19th January

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done!

Click here to share your work with us.

We’re learning to tell the time this week and as thing get a little more challenging, being able to count in 5s will really come in handy. Click on the video and sing along to make sure you are really secure with counting up in 5s.

Now watch my video to explore today’s learning. We are looking at telling the time to quarter past the hour and quarter to the hour today. Have your digital clock or printed clock ready.

Have a go at making some quarter past and quarter to times on your clock. If you are working with a sibling or an adult, ask them to challenge you to reading some o’clock, half past , quarter to and quater past times on your clock.

If you can’t work with anybody on you time telling, play level one on this Hickory Dickory Clock game.

And finally, have a go a this worksheet.

There are some further problems here.

We suggest you follow the activities for your RWI group, but there is nothing to stop you from having a go at the other activities.

PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

ALL GROUPS :- This week we are looking at the text The Queen’s Hat. Please listen to it being read by the author and illustrator Steve Antony. Read a copy of the text here without any of the illustrations.

OFF RWI GROUP – Let’s look at how we can read the story ourselves. Watch the video for some help.

Adding -ing to a verb – part 2

Carry on with your daily reading by choosing a book (at the right stage for your child) from the Oxford Owl library. This is the link to the information you need to access Oxford Owl. Once you are onto the website you can choose a book at your RWI phonics level OR from your book band level.

Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Click on the ‘Topic’ sign above for today’s topic lessons.

Today’s story is ‘Tiddler’ by Julia Donaldson, read by Miss Perks.

Please click on the Sport England badge to complete a short questionnaire. The data from the questionnaire will help the foundation to understand how Covid 19 has impacted sport and physical activity in schools.

Thank you for taking the time to complete it.

  1. Hi Miss, my work is now on cloud. We didn’t have any empty cans for drums so use used plastics tubs. I filled one with water to see if it made a different sound. See what you think when you watch my video. Let me know.
My favourite poetry was aliens sold my underpants.

    1. I have checked, and Charlie was going to start the Off Read Write Inc at the start of term. So if he has a go at those activities signposted for Off RWI that is great. If he finds them tricky he could always revisit some of the work for Blue/Grey group (although we would like him to have the challenge).

  2. Good afternoon. I’ve uploaded Antonia’s work into the cloud. As she finished writing her own version of the Queens hat yesterday, she has only read it out loud .
