Year 2 Week beginning 18th January

Thursday 21st January

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done!

Click here to share your work with us.

Have a look at today’s math’s video now, but your main task will come after your other lessons today. Time to put your time-telling to use in the real world! Today, you are going to keep a record of your learning schedule (to the nearest 5 minutes.) I explain your task in the video below.

Click here for the two interactive clocks mentioned in the video that you may choose to use when completing your task today.

Click here to print the schedule.

As a final challenge, click on the game below. Select ‘Add an hour’ and then ‘Analogue Clock’ to solve some time based word problems.

We suggest you follow the activities for your RWI group, but there is nothing to stop you from having a go at the other activities.

PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

OFF RWI GROUP We are going to start writing our own story about the Queen’s Hat, but this time it will be blowing over Shard End and Birmingham. Watch the video to help you get started with some ideas. You will have tomorrow to do your writing as well. You can use the text here to write over and change – it can be your planning sheet. Then write it out in neat today and tomorrow.

ALL GROUPS And finally, keep up with your spellings using https://spellingframe.co.uk/

In the table below, you will see all our key word spellings and the lists for them. To access one of these lists, you just need to click on ‘ Enter Word List Code’ and enter the code.

Lots of activities then load (and it is possible to see a simple word list showing the words within that spelling list), and children can access all the ones with the ‘FREE’ badge on them.  You do not need to register or sign up

Carry on with your daily reading by choosing a book (at the right stage for your child) from the Oxford Owl library. This is the link to the information you need to access Oxford Owl. Once you are onto the website you can choose a book at your RWI phonics level OR from your book band level.

Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Click on the ‘Topic’ sign above for today’s topic lessons.

Today’s story is going to be read by Miss Langford and it is called ‘Mog and the Baby’.

  1. Hi Miss, my work is now on cloud. We didn’t have any empty cans for drums so use used plastics tubs. I filled one with water to see if it made a different sound. See what you think when you watch my video. Let me know.
My favourite poetry was aliens sold my underpants.

    1. I have checked, and Charlie was going to start the Off Read Write Inc at the start of term. So if he has a go at those activities signposted for Off RWI that is great. If he finds them tricky he could always revisit some of the work for Blue/Grey group (although we would like him to have the challenge).

  2. Good afternoon. I’ve uploaded Antonia’s work into the cloud. As she finished writing her own version of the Queens hat yesterday, she has only read it out loud .

      1. I have uploaded Moutasim’s Maths work for today and his English work from yesterday. He has already done times table rockstars and is currently doing his English work for today.

  3. Rashane finished his work and uploaded. He is now plying Time table rockstars game . This week started reading “ The frog prince “ book.

  4. I have uploaded Mia’s maths. Mia started it in her exercise book before the schedule was added by Mrs Sheehan and doesn’t want to transfer to the worksheet now. Hope that’s ok!

Drama and Art is also uploaded for Topic.

  5. I’ve sent Isla’s maths and topic work to you. She has loved looking at the clock and telling me the time throughout the day. She has enjoyed the maths game, lots of spelling and reading to.

  6. Lucas spent 10 minutes playing the Mathsframe game
and has done his english and some of his maths homework today.
he will do some more later today.

  7. I’ve done spellings and drama with Bhav. I loved acting like a monster, my monster was happy when its given chocolate. Mom has sent my work 😀
