Year 2 Week beginning 18th January

Wednesday 20th January

Do you miss singing at Hillstone as much as we do? Why not start your day with one of our favourite assembly songs…

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done today!

Click here to share your work with us.

Let’s recap what we’ve learnt so far about telling the time. Click on the game and help your kitten win the race by telling the time speedily to o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past.

Today, we will be telling the time to 5 minute intervals. Click here for the virtual clock if you need it for today’s lesson. Watch my video below to start.

Time for you to have a go! Click on the ‘Hickory, Dickory, Clock’ game to practise telling the time to 5 minute intervals (make sure you select level 2.) If you’re finding it hard, revisit my video, or follow this video here.

Click here for today’s math’s work. For the second task, you need to draw the hands on the blank clocks, so if you don’t have a printer, use the virtual clock here to represent the times instead.

And finally, as it’s Wednesday, spend 10 minutes on Times Table Rock Stars.

We suggest you follow the activities for your RWI group, but there is nothing to stop you from having a go at the other activities.

PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

ALL GROUPS – Listen to the story of the Queen’s Hat and follow the text on the sheet (if you can print it). If you can’t print it, try to follow the text on screen.

OFF RWI GROUP Answer the questions about the text which you can look at here. Watch the video below to give you some help.

Here are the answers to the questions.

Carry on with your daily reading by choosing a book (at the right stage for your child) from the Oxford Owl library. This is the link to the information you need to access Oxford Owl. Once you are onto the website you can choose a book at your RWI phonics level OR from your book band level.

Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Click on the ‘Topic’ sign above for today’s topic lessons.

Today’ story is called ‘Grandma Bird’ by Benji Davies, read by Mrs Sheehan. Enjoy!

Please click on the Sport England badge to complete a short questionnaire. The data from the questionnaire will help the foundation to understand how Covid 19 has impacted sport and physical activity in schools.

Thank you for taking the time to complete it.

  1. Hi Miss, my work is now on cloud. We didn’t have any empty cans for drums so use used plastics tubs. I filled one with water to see if it made a different sound. See what you think when you watch my video. Let me know.
