Year 2 Week beginning 18th January

Friday 22nd January

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done!

It’s Friday today! And our final maths lesson of the week is always arithmetic. Today, we will focus on division. Watch my video below as a reminder of the speedy division strategies we have learnt at school.

Click on the ‘Mental Maths Train’ game. Select division and then click on the times table you are currently learning in our Target Tables lesson. Try using your knowledge of fact families (as discussed in the video) in order to answer the questions as quickly as you can. In you need to use sharing or counting up, that’s fine too!

For division questions linked to the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, click here.

For division questions linked to the 3 times table, click here.

And finally, spend 10 minutes on Times Tables Rock Stars! We’ll check the stats online and let you know if you’re topping the year 2 leader board!

We suggest you follow the activities for your RWI group, but there is nothing to stop you from having a go at the other activities.

PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. You can also try Red Words and Hold a Sentence

YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. You can also try Red Words and Hold a Sentence.

BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling. You can also try Reading Longer Words and Hold a Sentence.

OFF RWI GROUP Today we need to finish our stories about the Queen’s Hat in Birmingham. Watch the video – it shows an example of the story I have written. Once you have finished your story, find someone you can read it to! Make sure you make it sound amazing to keep your audience interested. Be proud of what you have achieved!

Carry on with your daily reading by choosing a book (at the right stage for your child) from the Oxford Owl library. This is the link to the information you need to access Oxford Owl. Once you are onto the website you can choose a book at your RWI phonics level OR from your book band level.

Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Mrs Driver is reading some poetry.

  1. Hi Miss, my work is now on cloud. We didn’t have any empty cans for drums so use used plastics tubs. I filled one with water to see if it made a different sound. See what you think when you watch my video. Let me know.
My favourite poetry was aliens sold my underpants.

    1. I have checked, and Charlie was going to start the Off Read Write Inc at the start of term. So if he has a go at those activities signposted for Off RWI that is great. If he finds them tricky he could always revisit some of the work for Blue/Grey group (although we would like him to have the challenge).

  2. Good afternoon. I’ve uploaded Antonia’s work into the cloud. As she finished writing her own version of the Queens hat yesterday, she has only read it out loud .

      1. I have uploaded Moutasim’s Maths work for today and his English work from yesterday. He has already done times table rockstars and is currently doing his English work for today.
