Year 2 Week beginning 11th January

Wednesday 13th January

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done today!

Click here to share your work with us.

Play this game for 10 minutes as a recap of yesterday’s learning. Click on ‘Mixed coins,’ ‘Exact Money’ and then ‘Up to Β£1.’

Today, we will be adding amounts together. Watch the video up to 8:44 (don’t worry when he says to complete a worksheet.) We will be using our adding strategies (like the column method) to add amounts together today.

The best way to practise adding amounts together is to play shopping! Have a go at creating your own shop with items that cost between 5p and 50p. Click on my video below to recap addition strategies used in school.

Why not start your own bakery? Click on the bakery below for some priced cupcakes. You could print these and practise adding the price of two cupcakes together at a time using the column method. Alternatively, use the print out as a guide and draw pictures of your own cupcakes (don’t forget the prices!) Which were the hardest two to add together and why? Which were the easiest?

Today you have some questions to answer using the fact file you read yesterday. Here is a link to the fact file again – it’s a good idea to read it again before you try answering the questions. If you can, print out the fact file as this will make it a little easier.

Here is some help with answering the questions.

Here are the questions to go with the fact file. Look for the key word which will take you to the answer. Try writing your answer as a complete sentence. Remember to say it before you write it!

Here are the answers to the questions. Mark your own work… how did you get on?

Carry on with your daily reading by choosing a book (at the right stage for your child) from the Oxford Owl library. This is the link to the information you need to access Oxford Owl. Once you are onto the website you can choose a book at your RWI phonics level OR from your book band level.

Click here to see a range of ideas for questions you can ask your child about the text they are reading.

Click on the ‘Topic’ sign above for today’s topic lessons.

Today’s story is read by Miss Langford and it is called ‘Mog and Bunny’.

  1. Good afternoon year two,

I have just received some work with no name on. There is a fact file on Florence Nightingale and a fortune teller. Please let me know if it is yours!
    Thanks
    Miss Langford
