Year 2 Week beginning 8th February

Thursday 11th February

Good news! We now have a place where you can send your work to us. When you finish a lesson, please take a photograph of it and submit by click on the ‘Super Work’ image below. Make sure your name is written on the work clearly. We look forward to seeing what you have done!

Click here to share your work with us.

Today, we will be comparing fractions. Yesterday’s fraction wall will come in great use today.

To start today’s lesson, we need to recap some prior learning. Click on the game below to practise using the greater than >, less than < and equal signs = (remember the hungry crocodile always has his mouth open ready to eat the greatest amount!) Spend around 10minutes on the game (or as long as you need until you feel confident.)Then watch my video. Today’s lesson should take around 45 minutes.

If you’d like some further work, or if you’d like to explore the learning in a different way to that shared in my video, try the game below. It will ask you to compare some fractions that you haven’t come across yet, however the denominators are all the same, so look at the pictures and the numerator to help you. Use it for a few examples before you need to sign up.

Here are the suggested RWI activities for your group. Please try the other activities too if you have time. Don’t forget to do your spellings today.

PINK/ORANGE Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

YELLOW Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

BLUE/GREY Speed sound reading and Speed sound spelling.

ALL GROUPS – Listen to the story of The Queen’s Knickers (and follow the text if you are able to). As you listen to it, start to think about which parts of the story you like and which parts you dislike. We can all have our own opinions so there is no right or wrong answer!

OFF RWI (suggested timing 30minutes) here is your chance to have your say about the story. We would like to know which parts you like and dislike, whether you have any puzzling questions about the book and if you know of any other stories that are quite similar. The instruction video shows you how to set it out.

ALL GROUPS And finally, keep up with your spellings using https://spellingframe.co.uk/

In the table below, you will see all our key word spellings and the lists for them. To access one of these lists, you just need to click on ‘ Enter Word List Code’ and enter the code.
